Allows Edits? YesSo I thought my first post here would have a pony in it, but then I found the landscape photography section and that’s what I want to improve – so here’s one I managed to get of the January Wolf Supermoon setting a few days ago.

Allows Edits? Yes@robertapple Thank you. I had another version with a flock of birds, but they look more like flies or dust (at least on mobile!)

Allows Edits? YesThank you – it was glorious that morning. The sun was rising behind me and I’ve never wanted to capture a panorama so much

Allows Edits? YesI really like this, especially the first one. The strong central subject and position of the moon and tree working together in my eye rather than standing apart from each other is something I find appealing. Dusk colors add to it and, of course, the single bird awing and the other perched add to it. You might consider a crop from the top of the image to reduce the amount of sky. A square composition combined with the central placement of the subjects might enhance this a bit, though I wouldn’t want to lose the gradation of the sky’s colors completely.
This isn’t Shark Tank so my notions may be a bit out of line from the usual. As always, they’re a grain of salt.
I would have concluded that the dark specks in the 2nd were birds rather than debris.

Allows Edits? YesThanks @lightandshadow, I do appreciate the feedback even if we’re not in Shark Tank. The square crop is a useful suggestion. It’s not usually one that comes to my mind because I tend to photography horses, which I find look better in rectangular crops.

Allows Edits? YesI used to avoid square as it was said to be static. One of my favorite Youtube landscape photographers uses it quite often so I stopped avoiding it.

Allows Edits? YesHad a go at square crop: In one sense I like that it draws your eye to the bird taking off. That is slightly at the expense of some of the colours in the sky, but possibly a worthwhile tradeoff. The foreground did bug me more in this crop, somehow, so I masked the exposure on it down a little.

Allows Edits? YesThis is a fantastic shot – the moon seen partly through bare black branches and partly through open sky that expands upwards.

Allows Edits? YesThese images are stunning Ellie. Love the photo of the moon with the silhouetted tree and the blue hour hues 🙂
