Working with AI

I know that some of you have been trying out working with AI. I’d love to see some of your rseults if you want to share. I tried off & on collaborating with AI on several different projects but even though I learned a lot from AI, I wasn’t ready to sign off on any of the resulting projects. Today I have a result I’m proud of, the result of seeing how far I could go with AI (in my case, Google Gemini). I’ve used my photography to create a floral opera with epic scale paired with opera aria selections. Pareidolia is the culprit that interested me to go in this direction, I wanted to see how far I could go creating characters with AI. This is my answer. Note: My file is a PDF that has links to online musical & operatic selections to go with the narrative. It was great fun!

Thanks for your feedback on this, Dahlia. I’m working on this now with AI. The best solution may be uploading a video to youtube.

Marty – I love the creativity here, but I had to open it via the email you sent to me so I don’t think anybody else can actually access these links above. But with what you’re trying to achieve with the combination of text images and music, I think you’re right that you should probably go down the video creation path. That also makes it a lot easier to share.

One slight criticism I would have is that the background images you’ve used for the text areas should be a little less pronounced as they’re a bit distracting from the actual content you want read and looked at. But I love the concept and I love the creativity so I think you should keep going with this and see where it goes.

Marty, I pasted the url into a browser window and it denied access.   I didn’t think anyone could access an individual’s OneDrive (versus the regular Documents/Photos/Videos area of Windows Explorer).   Although apparently Rob “got in.”   I didn’t.

Thanks for your feedback, Rob & Anne! Very helpful. I’ve continued to have OneDrive issues & may finally have a clean reinstall (subject to testing). I’ll be experimenting with the video idea & have tried desaturating the slide background images (increasing the translucency made them too bright). Thanks very much for your encouragement on the concept & creativity, Rob!

Maybe this is just on the edge of the topic, but I figured some folk may be interested.

How often have you guys wanted to take a shot that is just too full of people?
Enter Adobe’s recent addition to Lightroom – the Generative Removal tool. I’ve had some reasonable success with this AI assisted tool and I post an example here.

I show the before and after edits to try to elaborate.

My wife was taking a picture of the “bridge of sighs” in Oxford, but the street was “cluttered” with other visitors, so I decided to see how good the tool was.

I took the original shot and in LightRoom and did my usual edits, then I “painted” out each area with extra people and let the AI do the replacement. I think you’ll agree that the Generative Removal tool did a reasonable job. It’s below for comparison.

Wow, that’s amazing Steve! Great job, thanks for sharing. I don’t currently use Lightroom, so thanks for giving me an update on its new feature. Certainly something to consider.
