Pleasure Dan, hope most made sense 🙂 Sorry that I got the light situation wrong, I was just surprised as the lights are already quite intense and they usually come on only well during golden hour ( is this dusk or dawn?)Check It Out

I do like the detail in the background – I think it suits the theme of the pic as the lady obviosly prepares to make an entrance. I concur with @nikon-nut though, as this picture has so much detail it is a shame to lose the details in the lower lamp post which might be easily brought out and not take away from the main subject as the contrasts in…[Read more]

Hi Dan, there are some suggestions.
I don’t know which software you use or how much experience you have in post, so I hope the following is ok?
Composition: where your aware that you are cutting the torrett to the left off at the tip, angling the camera a tiny bit more would have included it and you would not have lost anything of interest…[Read more]

Great shot!!! I tried some day shot with reasonable reflections, but it was often too windy. I see now that night is the time to go!!! Nice exposure/processing, I like the subtle lights of the buildings in the back adding depth.Check It Out

Hi, I don’t doubt your technique and lighting, but I have problems with the body language in both shots. The first does not say menacing to me, the unnatural curve of the neck and ‘dead’ look, don’t translate to menacing to me – it’s as said before anywhere between mechanical and absent. The sweet look is sure technically softened, but I would…[Read more]

Hi Danny, if you link from e.g. Flickr we can click through to a better size/quality pics. Yes, I know not the same as at your screen/print at home, but still better to judge.
I have some challenges with your picture, but they are all rather subjective.
Firstly, I don’t think I like the branch in the shot, I think it takes my eyes out of the…[Read more]

Absolutely, I love the angle you took on it! And in Rome with the constant stream of tourists you just have to take your chances 🙂
I just shot it front on and it’s by far not that good. I waited forever for a police van to go away to not have a whole barrage of cars in front of the stairs, but it seemed they were the guards for the eternal…[Read more]

Hi Erik, Not sure if possible, and if in tune with the great flower shape on the ground, but if you could move a bit to the right, the horseman would not be right at the flagpole, but I know it’s a ‘busy’ monument with heaps of details and when you probably got one right another one goes funny. And yes, would be great to get the full flagpole,…[Read more]

I’m with @tobiepsg, that would as well avoid visually cutting his head off with the horizon line. Wide angle should help as @nikon-nut mentioned – bit problematic with rule of thirds though, as the centre would be obviously extended the most, so see if you can position yourself in a way the trees/or if possible one tree are/is as far from the…[Read more]

Love the dynamic created through the clouds and the angle of the building and the kept distortion adds to it, probably open the shadows a bit more and more contrast in the sky would emphasise the dramatic mood and weather.Check It Out

Hi Erik, I’d work on the highlights and possibly cut out the half green arch on the right – would have been good to have the full arch and the pedestrians on the left – but hey, these people never move where you need them 🙂Check It Out

Yep the head chandelier is a problem. I would as well crop out the other chandelier of which you can only see the bottom part and maybe the woman on the left side (her light name tag distracts). I’d darken as well the name tag on the gentleman on the right, maybe as well his papers… unless important for the pic. – Great that you didn’t get…[Read more]
