Yeah. Night time is the way to go @claudia-betia. Next time I’ll take a normal tripod (only had my gorillapod this trip), as that will shorten the reflection a little.Check It Out

I just might do that @claudia-betia not to sure if I can do that now as most of the harvest season has gone here due to the good weather we have had during the early months. Harvesting does not normally start till mid August. A lot of the seasons have now been thrown out by a month or so due too the climate change I think.Check It Out

working with textures is in my “wish” list-I’ve seen a very interesting ones on web. By now I’m working with real backdrops – awaiting for three new I’d purchased from E-bay. Is the LR enable to use those textures? (I’m using a very basic editor)Check It Out

about walnuts: it’s because of perspective -they were far in front of bread loaf

Many thanks for your valid remarks. I really do appreciate it and your professional knowledge stands out. Regarding the B&W conversion. I usually have a look what I can do myself, if I’m not satisfied, I also use Silver Effects, as well as Anthony Morganthy’s presets for monochrome. I hardly ever use PS. I even sometimes tweek…[Read more]

Hi @claudia-betia, thanks for your input.
I wanted the inner part of the gateway to be black, nothing else would have fit with the mood there. We arrived in the black of night and I was decidedly creeped out by the place. This was taken the next morning after camping next to the barrow, and I was surprised to find that the creepy nature of it…[Read more]

Gordon James replied to the topic How do you decide if you go with the colour or b/w version of a picture? in the forum Landscape Photography 9y, 9mo ago
@claudia-betia – yes, wholly endorse SFX, which takes your monochromes to places LR just won’t go!
This one has yet to have the SFX treatment (maybe I’ll post the result when it has) but is a good example of my going to B&W simply because the garish colours on the boats simply got in the way of the image I was trying to produce.

@nikon-nut: the reason for the -0.7 correction was an – apparently failing- attempt to avoid blown out skies (as @claudia-betia assumed correctly).
