Agree with @diogo405. if you don’t have space on the bottom: crop out the bottom as far as possible – perhaps to just below the tree reflection (next time walk just a little closer to exclude the grasses but include the tree reflection)? I’d bring down highlights a little and adjust the tonal curves to get more darks in the clouds.

@diogo405 I like the shot thought my first impression was that the boy should be walking into the photo from the right (same as @falx suggested)Check It Out

Thanks @diogo405. The cat insisted the towel. :o)
I got your point. Maybe it’s distracting because it looks like pure white without coloring like the rest of the pic. So it adds a stronger contrast to the pic.Check It Out

Skintone is ok, your contrast is low, no blacks.
Do you use Photoshop, Lightroom, both, other?
In Photoshop under ‘Levels’ you’ll find that your histogram looks like this.

You want the ‘hills’ to go right over to ‘0’ so you’ll have some rich blacks.
If you pull the black triangle slider…[Read more]

@shreekant-pattar – I would agree with @diogo405 – Either include more of the sky or none at all. Having that small sliver is a bit distracting. Check It Out -

@diogo405 Thanks for your comments.
I came across these guys after they had finished a long day of entertaining children so you’re right, they were tired.
There were a number of incongruous elements on the ground around their feet and as I was imposing on them during their coffee break after quitting time I didn’t feel like I should ask them…[Read more]

@michael-lloyd Yes I agree.. Too late for this shoot but I will work on it for the next ones.. Your feedback is really appreciated – cheers!
@diogo405 – That was my issue with this photo too, there is nothing to tell the story of this mans ‘life lived’ but I really like his expression & to me there feels like a real connection… shame I…[Read more]

@diogo405 I guess I could have have shot at 18mm, but it still would not have captured the whole story…..and I was really only interested in him. He and the waiter were having a dispute over his ability (inability) to pay the bill…..Check It Out

It has the extremes of contrast from total black to total white. Where would you ( @diogo405 ) suggest the contrast is needed – in the flower itself?Check It Out

@diogo405 Thanks for your comments!
The full frame original includes the top of his head but I’m working on a series of portraits in the 2:1 landscape mode that have this approximate framing – chopping the top of the head.
@nikon-nut Thanks!

light is a bit too flat, add a little more contrast.
Agree with @jpninanjohn and @diogo405 , you need your subject to be sharp in there because it’s not really recognizable.
When you use blur for art, you should either be creating something abstract or at least the subject should be recognizable.
You could try shooting caterpillars on…[Read more]

Entertaining thread folks, thanks for all the comments and discussions, I am a music lover as much as the next guy… @diogo405 , I do agree, for me 3 of the 5 are looking fairly natural and then 2 are a bit more stiff. The timing of that shot was interesting as some of the guys were breaking out of their spots and the others were stagnant, so I…[Read more]

@nikon-nut: Thanks John – does your opinion about ‘flat apply to the flickr (large) version? I’m not going to make adjustments for the smaller (yea, ‘flat’!) version because it would look weird by the time the small version looks fine.

May b it could be looked at differently. Like @diogo405 says the dog is having a fight but the ladies dont bother. Much like the world which doesn’t give a bother about the problems of others. There is a story here even if u have to search for it. The Serenity of the pic stands out well…Check It Out
