Thanks for your wishes Pat and yes, I will never forget the evening I spent with David. He was in town for a Light Painting catch up with friends and we had arranged to meet up though LS. I looked at his setup and was mesmerised. I had no idea what was what. There were leads and little gadgets attached here and there. I didn’t even bother asking…[Read more]

Well it’s taken some quite devastating news to get me off my backside and reconnect with the LS community. I’ts been a long time since I last posted anything, mainly because I haven’t touched my camera in over a year and have been working hard, had a couple of hospital visits myself, and generally just caught up in life. Retirement is a reality…[Read more]

Hi Vicki, I totally agree with you about the necessity for post work. That’s the beauty of a Raw file – it contains more detail than we might otherwise see pre-post and I have no issue with bringing that detail out if the image warrants it. Thanks for the kudus 🙂

Thanks Beth. I agree that the tiger does indeed look too dark on first view but when clicked for bigger it is a lot brighter and clearly a tiger. I think it’s a known thing in LS and wonder if the file type has anything to do with it? Images I post here are more often than not straight jpegs. As an experiment I used the ‘save for web’ setting in…[Read more]

Graham Hart replied to the topic Photoshop Elements vs Lightroom? in the forum General Photo Chit Chat 3y ago
Hi Marty, I was interested in it but knew nothing about Photoshop at first so I used an old copied version of Photoshop (from a mate) for about a year until I got an email from Adobe telling me to stop and get legit. I decided to bite the bullet and get a subscription. When I thought about it, the cost really is insignificant. Works out to about…[Read more]

Thanks Beaky. I struggle a lot too. The trouble with online tutorials is that the tricks and methods and tools they demonstrate are so hard to remember when doing your own work. It’s OK downloading all the ‘assets’ that come with tutorials so you can follow along and make exact copies of what is being shown in the lesson but starting with your own…[Read more]

Thanks for the feedback Jasenka. I’ve missed the clarity that the Stalkers provide. Back to the drawing board 🙂 .

Hi Dahlia, thanks for the feedback. I agree on all accounts. I already darkened the tree trunk which was a lot brighter. When I first took the shot of the woods some time ago, the bright tree trunk standing out is what attracted my attention but trying to shift the attention over to the superimposed tiger hasn’t worked that well I guess. I also…[Read more]

Not sure where my original post disappeared to so here’s a second try. I’ve been watching lots of PS tutorials lately so decided to have a go at a composite.

The blue hue is an easy fix Marty (assuming you have Photoshop?) Add a Hue/Saturation layer. This will bring up the adjustment layer’s control box. Click on the little hand symbol with an arrow on each side of it then move it over the blue gloves and drag left to reduce the saturation of that specific colour.
I like the aspect of the full shot…[Read more]

Congrats Diane. Really like the colours and the depth in this one. It’s like a sneak peek into the spider’s world of construction – a web of intrigue!

Graham Hart replied to the topic What does it mean? in the forum General Photo Chit Chat 3y ago
Coming in late to this discussion but what a fascinating subject. After sifting through all the comments, I have come to the conclusion that it all revolves around what we mean by ‘right’. I guess the purpose of a camera is to ‘capture’ something seen. How well that capture represents the original is generally what we are referring to when we use…[Read more]
