Nice capture Diane. I really like the light in that drop of water which acts like a mini lens into the berry.

Love this one Jasenka. Ideal composition and the silhouette surrounded by shadow provide wonderful a element of mystery and a desire to know more.

Love the colours in this one Diane. Interesting effects from the lens.

They don’t make ’em like they used to! Something about old lenses which gives them a unique ability to capture the light differently somehow. This is a simple shot yet visually appealing because of it’s depth. Federico’s term ‘dreamy’ is bang on.

Gorgeous shot Steve. Landscape layers like this always demand your attention as you look into the distance and when it fades beneath the clouds it is even more appealing.

This is a fantastic capture Philip with a very powerful story. The instant I saw it I was connected to the world of the elderly and their ageing bodies’ struggle for warmth. I think the heater between his legs acts as a strong leading line into the man’s self embrace and his downward gaze which almost appear to beckon the heat toward him.
It may…[Read more] -

Hi John and thanks for the background story. Always great to hear how other people found their way into the world of photography. Must be a little daunting packing the camera gear into a kayak and hitting the rapids. No doubt you have some sturdy waterproof packaging?

Graham Hart replied to the topic Mother Nature Snacking on an Old Barn in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 1y, 7mo ago
Hi Greg, fiddled around with this for a bit but couldn’t really make any significant change to try and bring something out. All the colours are quite muted and I think the foreground stalks steal some of the attention away from the barn which blends too easily into it’s surrounds – but as you say…that’s kinda the point. The barn fills a large…[Read more]

Nice image to look at Robert but sad to see. From an image perspective I like the slash of blue throughout the barren greyish landscape. On a positive note, at least there are no rusty car bodies lying around.

The cooking analogy is a great way of looking at it Marty – haven’t thought of it in those terms before. We had a thread here on LS a while ago about ‘What is Photography’ where we discussed the effect of technology and the rise of altered imagery through programs like Photoshop, Affinity, Lightroom etc. “Don’t overcook it” is excellent advice but…[Read more]

My pleasure mate. It helps me also because by explaining something to others it helps to ‘lock it in’ to my own brain which is still learning all this stuff. I must admit I have become a PS addict since I started learning more about it. Perhaps the biggest lesson I’ve learnt so far is that of the thousands of tools and ways to do things in PS,…[Read more]
