@admin  Rob, I would love to use old lenses but without a camera shop handy here in Mexico…  I do have a set of Holga toy camera lenses for Canon that are a lot of fun and it feels so wicked to put a 15 dollar lens on a nice DSLR, lots of vignetting in camera.

Daniel, this is a hard one to appreciate on a phone but looks great bigger.   According to some people, ha ha ha, I like BW a little “over cooked” so I like the processing on this and I like the vignette for  a kinda  olde timey look.

All of these ideas have merit but make the shot too abstract for my purposes. I tried removing the trees but it was impossible to tell if the structure was a model on a tabletop or 50 meters tall. I’m going to print this and the ST is always a good go-to before spending the money. Thank you all!

Hi Peter, by background do you mean the silhouetted trees?  I left them as a scale reference but that may not be important?

Hi Gary, I like it.  The difference in luminosity is from the camera so being a nature photographer, ha-ha, I left it as is.

Hi Greg.  I’m not a flower shooter but this looks well done to me.  The shadow seems to have an orange cast to my old eyes.

John, with your crop sensor  camera the reciprocal is… 300mm X 1.6 = 480 slowest shutter speed and preferably faster especially after an espresso or two!  I have a T6S and shoot a lot of street so use shutter priority mode with the shutter speed at the fastest speed I think I will need with auto ISO and let the camera figure it out.  I like to…[Read more]

Hi John, I like the composition but not being in focus is a big down check.  Try a faster shutter speed next time and raise your ISO.  ISO noise can be fixed or lived with.   It’s so easy to be a Monday morning quarterback isn’t it?

Hi Peter, very nice!  The white in top right looks like it is clipped so if you print this you will probably have bare paper with no ink there.  I pulled it back and added a little blue.
