yes that is how I feel too. Met a photographer in a group, he lives on a rural property surrounded by wetlands, a perfect natural setting for the wild birds. But he has set up his backyard so he can sit on his veranda, hidden behind a blind with his massive lens and takes perfect pictures of the birds, but not in their natural setting or habitat.…[Read more]

I organised a group of people from a local Photography Club, and a tutor to teach us all about using Manual Mode with our DSLR Camera’s. I got it, at the first one hour lesson, then went out practicing everyday. The 2nd lesson was useful to learn from problems encountered in the practice sessions.
I had learnt stacks from just those two lessons,…[Read more] -

This is just a gorgeous capture IMHO. A pure black horse, but the sun shows the colours in a different light, as red tones and blue tones.
A day out at the races, practicing using my camera in Manual Mode only.DSC_0096 (544×1280).jpg by Elizabeth Kilpatrick on Light StalkingCheck It Out

Capturing the animals personalityI love to capture the feelings, personality and character in my animal shots. Dogs are easy peasy, but I love the Racehorses. Racehorses can show happiness, exhilaration, tiredness, and ego amongst the multitude of experiences they go through.
This horse had just come back from winning a race, he looks happy,…[Read more] -

Been trying for ages to capture the tiny hairs in detail. Not many Bees around my patch, they are few and far between sightings theses days. Too many chemicals in use are wiping out the bees.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. What you see as beauty is not necessarily what the majority will see. Everyone sees things differently. If you are lucky enough you will find many people will agree with you, but many people will not.
It is much like the fable of the Blind Men and the Elephant. Each saw , or touched and felt something…[Read more] -

Lessons navigating the DSLR CameraI live in a rural area in Australia, on the main drag between Sydney & Melbourne, population about 100,000, and found there were no face to face, photography classes, or camera classes available in the area.
Tafe ran courses but required a minimum class size of 5 or 10 people. Plenty of people said they were…[Read more]

Oh, I don’t know, I tell the men if I think they are good looking, nothing wrong with that. Most men need their ego boosting at some stage. Anyway it is all such a temporary thing, as we all end up 6 feet under at some stage. but thank you anyway.

Old double & triple film exposuresWhatever, obviously the camera was jammed, although it appeared to click through each shot. I was having a family photo shoot with my gorgeous girls, dog and cats. First shot is a triple exposure. I scanned the old photos for these, so no EXIF available. No photo shopping (I don’t own any photo editing software,…[Read more]

Amazing, I was just reading David Tipling’s book-The birdwatcher’s guide to digital photography. He likes the blurred images of birds, in fact he states some of his best known shots show blurred wings. PS He is one of the world’s most famous Wildlife photographers, and won many international photography awards.
I note he uses a 500mm lens for…[Read more] -

I now live in a regional City, and I caught Mel Gibson with my Pentax back in 1988-89. (Mel did live nearby at Kiewa, where he had a farm at that time) Mel was supporting a local member who was running for the seat of Indi, in our electorate. I have only just scanned the original photos, and here you are. Lucky old me! ps I had my girlfriends…[Read more]
