@lulac73 Very nice job on the final edit. Much more dramatic and compelling than either of the first two options. @gordonjames makes a good point about the composition. If I had a dollar for every time I looked at a shot on my monitor and said “if I’d just moved a few feet (or inches)” I would be a very wealthy man (as wold most…[Read more]

I, too, like the first photo better. I think the darker colors better reflect what I’d expect to see with the sun just peeking up over the horizon. What I’d consider doing differently is mostly in composition. There is a natural tendency to put the horizon line in the center of the frame, but then the viewer is left wondering: what is more…[Read more]

I was in Rome in April and shooting the wedding cake here is really difficult. There is so much going on that it may be impossible to not have one statue overlapping a flagpole or another statue. Move a little to the right and you get separation between the big flagpole and the king on his horse but then you have another flagpole coming out of…[Read more]

You have some interesting things going on here. The clouds seem to all point at the tower, which I really like. The curved, sinuous line of rubble (the talus slope?) also leads the eye through the middle ground to the tower. @admin is right on about the lack of something in the foreground to draw you in. We all get excited seeing majestic…[Read more]

Can’t tell you how many places I have to go back to for the same reason! I’d love to re-shoot some places where I’m not satisfied with my photos. But there are so many other places to go!!!Check It Out

Agreed. This might be something that would work better in black white. There seems to be a lot of texture and tones here, both in the stairs and the tree trunk. Some processing could really bring that out.Check It Out

I agree with others about the lack of a clear subject. My eyes don’t quite know what is important here. You have the vineyard, the wall, the single tree and the rock and all of them are prominent. I think you have a really interesting leading line in the curved stone wall, but it leads my eyes right out of the frame! The wall also has a lot of…[Read more]

Frank Gallagher replied to the topic Critique please in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 9y, 8mo ago
What a drive to work you must have! If there’s one thing that I’d change, it would be shifting the camera position a bit. The strong rays of light on the left take my eyes out of the photo. There’s nothing to create a boundary to return my eyes into the rest of the shot. To me, the key area is where the rays of light strike the ground in the…[Read more]
