I love the soft look of the edge of the world, and would not like to see it overdone… the scene lacks the awe it deserves by having the two figures smiling at the photographer. perhaps a slight fill flash on the figures would warm them up .. have them look out to the view instead of at you.

the foreground is lovely. I do find the horizon a bit bowed though. I might try to tone down the sunspot or give the sky a bit more drama.

hilarie replied to the topic Is this ok for a begginer's club photo comp? in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y, 9mo ago
it would depend on your club rules, but borders like that for competition are a no-no in ours. they allow only a 2 pixel stroke around a dark image to be shown on a black screen

i would go for the boring framing also. i find i am feeling uncomfortable with the cut off edge. perhaps cut off the upper edge as well about the same amount if you want it off balance. I’m not sure the blown out globe matters as much to me as the subject is really the figure. perfect exposure might make it too perfect. 🙂 i like the tension…[Read more]

great idea! I love junkshop shooting! perfect exposure and they look nice and sharp. I find the image a bit busy in the original composition. the crop is much better. A couple of things you can do when shooting. look for the ‘stranger in the crowd’ and place it in the ‘rule of thirds’ position. in this case it would be the white doorknob.…[Read more]
