My town in CT will have 92% totality. Our local library handed out free glasses which I picked up. The highest ND filter I have is 10stop, so I photographed the one in 2017 using my husbands filter from a welder. I will try again on Monday. These are so eye catching, @patrickw-2 ! I love the focus and softness of the outer petals contrasting the clarity of the inner golden flower. The second one is so crisp yet soft, and I really like the white vignetting.

Thank you @tersha, @wendyp and @martye! Yes, it’s quite an interesting plant. It grows in the wetlands, and smells like skunk if it gets bruised. I have only gotten a few whiffs of it over the years, most likely from when a fox or coyote are chasing prey all around it. March in New England is so finicky. One day it’s snowing, and the next it’s 60 degrees and sunny. Not much sprouting here yet, but this morning I spotted the Symplocarpus foetidus, commonly known as skunk cabbage. It’s usually the first breathe of life on our property.
