@admin-2 I believe it’s the same for most people who are serious about their photography. I frequently go to places knowing that I probably won’t find anything but use the opportunity to scout the territory and plan for future shoots.

@patography The bubbles in the center of the image almost look metallic.
Did they appear that way naturally or did you perform any processing which lead to that effect?

The halos only bother me a bit because to some people it might look as though I did a really bad job of burning down bright spots in the picture.
I always try to produce very natural looking images and because of this I tend to do very little work to my pictures beyond basic exposure fine-tuning, color/white balance fine-tuning…[Read more]

Nikon has never made an optically bad 105mm macro.
But then I don’t think any other manufacturer — including third parties like Tamron, Tokina and Sigma — have either.
I’ve heard that some people have experienced compatibility issues with Sigma 105mm macro lenses, but I’ve never used any Sigma products and don’t know anyone with Sigma macro…[Read more]

I made this picture last weekend and wanted to get some opinions about a halo effect I see in the image:
You’ll notice there is a halo around every area where something breaks the surface of the water. Other than a tiny, tiny bit of shadow lightening, no work has been done in post processing. In other words, I didn’t darken the water.
