Firstly, apologies for not returning to thank you for the feedback sooner – Having a work nightmare this week and been offline for what feels like a lifetime.
Compositionally, @mc-fowler and @haychmack and @hcreations I think you all hit the nail on the head and it’s something I’ll definitely be concentrating on in future. I obviously like…[Read more]

Jeesh @mc-fowler – I was just checking out your website. You’re a bit of a headshot gun!

@mc-fowler. I see what you are saying. Yes. I can see that. Especially if the foreground area is brightened.

@mc-fowler: Thanks again. I’ve never done anything high key, but I would be interested in doing so. I should give it a try!

I agree with @mc-fowler on everything except the over saturation.
That patch of sun at the top might be better cropped out. Lower the high-lights on the sunlit patch in the background, but I think the grass and rocks in the foreground could use to be a bit brighter. The sunlit patch draws my eyes right away, where it would be better to…[Read more]

Lightning is SO much fun to photograph!
I really do like @mc-fowler‘s crop of the second image, with the cars and their lights streaking by. Very nice crop. The colours are great and the foreground is very interesting. Excellent shot.
Mc-fowler’s crop of the first photo is very close to excellent (in my humble opinion). The lightning is…[Read more]

And thanks to @mc-fowler and @bilgola as well. Although the Shark Tank is for negative criticism, it can be awkward not to hear anything. You wonder if no one has constructive criticism or if no one bothered looking.

The sky was flat and overcast on the day that I shot it. The original and TIF file was right on the edge but not over exposed. I try to keep things in Zones 3 and 8, occasionally allowing Zone 9 to creep in. The final conversion to JPG pushed the whites over the edge. That’s usually something that I watch for but since I printed from the TIF I…[Read more]

Good to see somebody in the corner drinking @mc-fowler and I get what you’re saying. The kicker here is that directing online social feedback is kind of like herding cats. When you start diluting the guidelines from being very black and white, general online group nature takes over – and you end up with comments like on Flickr and 500px (which…[Read more]

OMG – this forum is actually going to turn out to be extremely helpful. 🙂
Thankyou, @photogmom, @haychmack and @mc-fowler and @hcreations – this is the exact stuff I needed to hear about this.
I already know which image I am going to put up next. 🙂

I agree with @mc-fowler, cropping it portrait, keeping the eye to the right would draw your eye up the neck and then to the eye and the beak making it a stronger composition.
