@paul-3 what a fluid, graceful image. The action may be “stopped” but the motion continues!

I went on a small whale-watching boat years ago hoping to get some shots, but I only got a tail and never saw a breech. You definitely got the money shot with a rare breech captured by your quick eye and perfect settings. Timing is…[Read more]

If I was ever asked about how to define an aesthetic experience, I would likely point towards the exact moment in which my eyes came across this particular scene. In a straightforward visual kick, we encounter three fundamental principles of photographic composition.

I agree this is such a wonderful and unexpected shot! Congrats to @paul-3 for his momentous capture of the magnificent snowy owl deciding to land where he landed at the right time and place. Serendipity! A reminder that time is fleeting, it’s our job as photographers to capture it 😀

Hi Paul, I tried out your suggestion to try different viewpoints with a new layered flora shot I’ve been working on for artistic effect. Thanks for the assist! 🙂

@paul-3 Hi Bucweeet. In my initial experimentation I found that wide open the sweet 35 was not sharp, and you could stop down and it would be “more sharp” and still have effect at the in the middle of the aperture. When I shot the models I shot them 3 to 4 clicks out from wide open, which after looking were F5.6 and F8. This is the conclusion in…[Read more]
