I agree with bucweeet– the slices and interior might ought to look a little fresher. On my monitor, the whole seems a bit darker than I might like. Admin says he might resort to cropping suggestions but doesn’t give one. I don’t personally see one to give. This is a stunning image in its quiet way.
The white house lower left is Biltmore House. There are only 2 places along the Parkway where this historic home can be seen. I was hoping the light would stream all the way across and highlight it. It didn’t happen. It may not be prominent enough in the frame.
Thank you. I was in a near panic to get out of the car, across the road with camera in hand. I didn’t take time to grab my tripod fearing the light would fail before I got a few images into camera. ISO 400 and resting the camera on the guard rail isn’t conducive to the highest quality.
Lovely landscape. I agree with Jim Dockery’s suggestion about the bushes at the bottom of the frame. There is also a glow all along the ridge that usually reflects contrast and/or sharpening artifacts. On my monitor, the clouds have strayed over from gray to slightly purple.
My name is Steve. I took up photography in 2003 following a serious cycling accident that led me to rethink my choice of recreational activities. A few months into my recovery, we visited our daughter and son-in-law who were living in England. With new slr in hand, I took a lot of pictures and was, for the most part, disappointed in them. I knew I could do better. The advent of digital, combined with frequent visits to my in-laws house at the beach, along with participation in a number of forums on the internet hooked me to this creative activity.
