@pmarione your right Shouldn’t cut the feet off a block of ice any more than a person.
@fraser the Carnival celebration starts here soon and there will be blocks ice all over the place so I will try even rearranging the ice next time. Normally the only way I like to rearrange…[Read more]

Holy cow @pmarione Looks like English to me but is gibberish to me 🙂 Actually, I do understand some of what you said. Can you point me to a resource on the internet to learn more about LAB? Check It Out

Patrick (@pmarione) you can be a bit “caustic” as times. I do as well. @fraser please understand it is never personal. I know at times it may seem so but it is not. @fraser I do not remember what was said on my first pic but I can tell you I went back with my tail between my legs so to speak.Check It Out

The odd think is @pmarione that it looks fine in the preview in PS. I have the print preview set on the canon and there it starts to look to reddish. I have everything in the Canon device driver turned off and let PS control the printer with the ICC profile that I tell it. In the pics that the sky is red it never shows in any of the print…[Read more]

Pray tell @pmarione what is a LAB conversion? BTW, I cropped out his pink backpack. Something just not quite right about a guy with a cowboy hat and a pink backpack, on purpose.Check It Out

With @pmarione there are not many words wasted on “nicey nice” which is fine for me but Patrick’s no BS style of critiquing takes a bit of getting used to but I consider it entertainment! When Patrick, on rare occasions, says he likes one of my of my photos I feel like I am really learning and advancing. On the other hand, when he rips one I say…[Read more]

Kinda harsh @pmarione. I think I’ll use your post as an example for my students of “what not to do” when critiquing.
Your experience and advice in this area are incredibly useful, valuable and appreciated, but slating a photograph so much that the poster feels they have to take it down is not.Check It Out

@pmarione I used a white muslin background, and I used continuous lighting via cfl softboxes and a reflector. First time with this setup, and since I also wanted it for video, I think it worked. But I agree with you and @el-dub, and a different background with a little more texture would add more depth, and change the mood.
@shaneh Thanks for…[Read more]

I agree with @pmarione. with this background, it looks like something you would see in a pamphlet or some other kind of commercial photo. Which is awesome, don’t get me wrong. But, I think I would have chosen a darker background for contrast.
let me rephrase just in case… This is an excellent example of commercial photography. I would…[Read more]

@pmarione
Same here.
That is why you may not see comments from me on certain shots. I am starting to like portraiture, but don’t feel that I have the knowledge to critique them yet. Otherwise I just don’t comment on shots that I find uninteresting or redundant. If I have nothing that can help, then nothing is what I say.
I don’t like…[Read more] -

@pmarione: I don’t even have a macro lens, but like to take some closeups.
I see that you are not predjudiced, only hating everything that you do not like. 😉
I am not a fan of birds, cars, or planes in photos. Perhaps we have one thing in common. Haha!
However, humans are low on my list of subjects that I enjoy shooting. I make a…[Read more]

Before I saw @pmarione comments I thought the same thing as he did. Strictly speaking you have the technique of this sort of photography down. @richardparker ask yourself this: Without the long exposure would this image have any merit? The answer should be no, it does not. In most cases the light trails should enhance the scene not be the…[Read more]

Hi @hugsmindy. First you should post your camera settings which will help us help you. Second it really is better if you post just one pic at a time. I think having 3 images to critique might leave out some comments like “falling through the cracks” if you know what I mean.
In the first pic the out of focus doll is not what you want there.…[Read more]
