Tighten in on the doorway, a little selective brightening on the arched doorway and path leading to it.

There is a bit of a clue in what you just said, Even in a black and white photo conversion on of the things that often gets overlooked is the white balance, all I did here was adjust the white balance based on your amber light comment.

Slow the shutter speed, or lower the F stop, you can brighten it by raising the ISO but you will add more grain to the photo.

As you are using light room Daniel you Might take a look at the presets and see if something is close to what you want and tweak the settings from there. “‘classic’ B&W photos from the 40s and 50s is kind of ambiguous” and could encompass 100’s of styles.
