@tersha – Makes sense. Years ago when I walked Hadrian’s Wall we saw a LOT of fighter jets and a few of them would actually be below us. Was pretty cool.

Why were they so low, @tersha? You live near an airport?

I’ve been wanting to convert to macro for a long time but am having a hard time justifying the expense of a dedicated macro lens. @tersha is inspiring me to find a way to go to the next level. đŸ˜€ I’ve known photographers who have bought used ones on ebay, as well as others who’ve used reversing rings. My ask for today is do you have any…[Read more]

Fabulous shot with amazing detail. Who would have ever thought this could be a mantis wing? Wow, it’s visual poetry to my eyes. Great pick, Federico, and huge congratulations @tersha on your magnificent shot!

Insects offer some of the most interesting patterns to explore through the means of photography. Tersha’s talented gaze elevated the wings of a mantis by doing a precise close-up and an enlightening post-production. And I hope this serves as inspiration for all of us struggling with the micro-world!
Congrats @tersha, thanks for sharing this…[Read more]

@tersha It’s great to hear that you made these pictures in an ethical way. I’ve heard stories about how people who make these type of images will euthanize the insects and then pose them to get the shot they’re trying to create.
Although I’m not much of a macro photographer, seeing what you’ve been able to produce with your MPE lens almost makes…[Read more]

@tersha The amount of magnification you’re able to get with your Canon MPE lens is very impressive.
Do you ever find that the short focal length creates a working distance problem with your subjects?

I thought you might like the subject matter @tersha, Is a very artsy lens , has two apertures built into it both adjustable so you can get funky with vignette and DOF.

Thank you @tersha, @wendyp and @martye! Yes, it’s quite an interesting plant. It grows in the wetlands, and smells like skunk if it gets bruised. I have only gotten a few whiffs of it over the years, most likely from when a fox or coyote are chasing prey all around it. As for real skunks, we have plenty of those, and are currently trying to keep…[Read more]

Thank you all. @wendyp I too thought of an underwater scene, @tersha I know it was blue hour with a few trees in the background and some tiny lights in the foreground and I moved the camera upwards. But, I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t recall the exact circumstance. (I have since become better at key wording) Looking at the date, the foreground…[Read more]
