Amazing light
When there is no wide color range I usually prefer B&W…
About cropping-the first image: I’d try the square crop…
Any material which can diffuse the light is so called scrim. You can buy it under name of diffuser
About the translucent paper -scrim.
It should be install between light source and the subject. You don’t need the scrim will cover the whole window but only on the part of it which influences the set.
Would be interesting to see another shot…
couple of thougths, Marty
- the framing: considering the square format I’d put the whole set more in the centre-for better balance
- what lense are you using ?-I can feel some visual distortions in onions-but I could be wrong..
- the onions in the back I’d make a bit darker – that will bring more depth..
- the knife’s blade is also a bit too bright..
- averall light is harsh to my test-the transluent paper attached to the window or just curtain could help..
