I have it on Flickr, there is the link. Thank you for the suggestions, I agree with cropping and making the bird stand out more. @yumarena, I am unfamiliar with daren? My purpose for joining this forum is to develop my skills so all input is appreciated and welcome.

Hey @yumarena I agree the profile is much better. I was not actually suggesting that you change it I was just saying how the image made me feel and that “feeling” is part of the draw to this pic. It looks like the girl was having fun with it.Check It Out

Taken on the street two years ago at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Just thought the young girl looked so beautiful in her pink hat. The goal was to show her hat and the delicacy of her features. Don’t do much street portrait and would like some feedback on this one. Thanks in advance.”

@yumarena I some times will use two gradient adjustment layers to separate blacks and whites. Then it is usually many curve adjustment layers and at least one 50% gray layer. I use the curves adjustment layers because it only affects the midtones and not each end of the histogram.Check It Out

It would be great if you could provide your camera settings @rico27511 I find the man to be a bit of a distraction and the sky to be a bit dirty, maybe due to a high ISO setting. Some cameras can achieve a lot lower ISO for long exposure night photography even as low as ISO 100. You also have some ghosting going on which is something that happens…[Read more]

@yumarena Thank you for your comments.
I tried your suggestion to increase the value in the shadows. For me that did not work, the shadows get too much detail which I do not like. But as a result from trying, I lowered the blacks quite a bit and that I like. Obviously you get even less detail in the shadows but the image gets more punch.

@yumarena Haha! What you said is true. But I’m quite unsure about this picture.
@tersha Sure, I will do that from my next post ! Thank you.
@admin Yes, They are more blue than white. I will correct it.

I’ve managed to have a little play around with the image again and done some cleaning up as well as dodge & burn. Not to sure if the image is a little too dark and need to lower the contrast a little?

How is this @yumarena? I liked your idea of B&W however it still seemed like it was missing something so I added a layer mask in PSE and moved the opacity to 80% so a little color would show through but not enough to overpower the picture. What do you think?Check It Out

@nikon-nut @suegresham @yumarena Thank you so much for you’re input guys it means a lot ๐ I did crop to low I guess so I have rearranged the edit. But although their appeared to be a very small amount of detail in the sky, it happened to have non at all so I had to change it for something that didn’t look to dark and out of place I hope.

Sorry @yumarena not keen on this at all. The central position of the tree, the bleed out at the top of the frame and the fourteen (ok, i didn’t count them!) different shades of white, some against other ‘whites’, don’t engage my eye at all. Lots of contrast against the blue sky, but very little between tree, clouds and sand.
Is this ‘true’ IR,…[Read more] -

Hi @abp-photography and @yumarena
Many thanks for your kind positive crtique. Yes, this photo once again shows (to me) how subjective our art is. I have just as many positive feedbacks telling me how the bird and tree trunks actually add to the photo. Suppose one can’t please everybody.
