  • What town in Kansas are you talking about?

    • Burlingame, Kansas. It is about 10 miles off 75 highway going west on Highway 56. That is about two miles past the Carbondale exit south of Topeka. You go to Scranton and then it is about six miles to Historic Burlingame. It is a great little town and there is some wonderful preservation being done on these two blocks, however these three buildings are key not only historically, but visually where it balances the historic facade across the street where you can visit the Santa Fe Cafe run by Jeanne Riggs. She restored that building. Michelle Miller restored the beautiful building at the corner or Santa Fe Avenue and Topeka. The DAR marker is at the end of the two block mainstreet. One important characteristic is the extremely wide brick vista along Santa Fe Avenue. It is huge. I think it would be fun to have a SF Trails event in Burlingame every year where people come and celebrate the culture that evolved the settlement of America. Several people have tried to raise the resources to restore the buildings, but have not been able to organize it. This is a great photo journalism opportunity. My goal is to get the buildings safe for the community until they can be restored. Just boarding up the missing wall would help.

    • I am new to the Light Stalking website. Although, I have read the instructions, I am not quite sure how to get the photos of these buildings from my gallery to the forum. Suggestions?
