I recently saw some images created using the Orton effect with slide film. Is there a way to create the effect digitally without resorting to post processing?

    • It seems like you could create a Custom Style with most DSLRs. Only I am not sure that Custom Styles would let you go extreme enough on the settings. Although PP seems like an easier way to control things. I saw a story on this at Digital Photography School’s website. I think it was a photoshop action that would apply this effect to a photo. You might try a search on their site.

      • Thank you @ryder14, I will check out their site. I am hoping that I can avoid PS, but if necessary, I will go there.

        • You might want to check discussion boards for your camera brand. I shoot Canon and it seems like I saw somewhere that had “recipes” for Custom Style Settings to get different effects “in camera”. I just don’t remember where and you might not shoot Canon, so you would need to find brand specific settings. Since it was just a list of what to set each specific setting to, they were free and online.
