    Hi :)!

A few days ago I went to take pictures of kites (Milvus). With my 300mm lens and my about 10 megapixels this is all I could do…

It is not a very clear view of this bird, but for me It has great value because they aren’t birds that you often can see so near in freedom here (I didn’t know anything about them until a year ago).

    • I have worked with these birds. I used to see them every day, in their hundreds, because I worked at one of the feeding stations (set up to bring the species back from extinction in Britain), and still I never get bored of watching them. In my opinion, they are the most graceful out of all the bird of prey species 🙂

      • You are very lucky, @recdavies :)! I like very much these birds. I think that they are one of the biggest bird of prey in my town. I’ve only seen a bird (of prey?) bigger than a kite, an enormous black raven (corvus corax, Can It be considered a bird of prey?) who stalked to kites :p!

We have a lot of storks too and other beautiful birds, but I like specially the birds of prey.

      • I used to work with Red Kites , too……Protecting a nest at Nant yr Arian, and monitoring Kite Population in Mid Wales.

        • Is this a black or a red kite? I thought distinguish would be simple, but I don’t know do it xD! I’d read there were black kites here, but watching other people’s photos I think this is a red kite. I’m colourblind, but It doesn’t seem be very black :p!

I think work with this kind of birds is great :)!

        • That’s where I worked too 🙂 Nant-yr-Arian, I mean 🙂 Although I didn’t have as good a job as you did @tersha !

@astaroth A raven isn’t a bird of prey, although I can see why you might think it due to its size, but its actually a corvid (same group as crows, jackdaws, rooks, choughs, magpies, and jays).
And this photo is definitely of a red kite.
@pefema yes, i think hawks are beautiful too.
          all birds are! 🙂

          • I have troubles with the corvids. In Spanish ”crow” and ”raven” are translated with the same word, but they have very different sizes! I saw the big one.

Thanks for the identification ;)! I need an expert like you, @recdavies , near me 24 hours at day xD, because I try make a web-page about ornithology and I have no idea about birds :p!

            • Haha well I’m glad to be of service any time 😉 All you need to do is ask! 🙂

            • thought I’d put this on…..Red Kite feather….
              feather,kite

              • Very beautiful photo :)! I have in my bedroom two stork’s feathers to ornament. The white storks are very typical here.

    • Thanks @pefema !

My photos of birds are very chaotics. I crop the images, I don’t care the composition, I abuse of continuous shooting, I use very high ISOs and I always am in the resolution limit. All “good things” in this photo are because of the luck xD!

I’ve recently discovered the kites (“Milanos” in Spanish)! Maybe there are kites near you and you don’t know :p!
