Hello everyone,
I’m Chris, new to the site. I’m an amateur photographer, been shooting for a few years now, but really only got somewhat serious about learning how’s and why’s over the last couple of years. I really enjoy articles and tutorials like those on this site. They really help someone like me who needs a nudge in the right direction to try something new.
I’ve read various articles from this site in the past, but what prompted me to sign up and join the forums was seeing one of my photography apps mentioned in Rob’s article on the 500 Rule. I’m not a professional app developer – just trying to learn app development the same way I am photography, by doing it.
The apps I’ve developed have centered around calculations. Instead of memorizing a formula or sensor crop factors, I wanted to give myself and others more time to shoot.
Most of all though, I look forward to making new friends and getting critiques on my shots, and tips on how to improve.
Best to everyone,
Chris

Allows Edits? Yes@cw2323 Hi Chris, welcome to the forums and good to have you here. The apps you have developed will be very useful for photographers who wish to quickly have an answer on the field rather than calculating them – quite interesting.
Feel free to look around the forums and take part in the discussions here. Look forward to your contributions and participation. Give us a shout if you need any help 🙂

Hi Rob,
I have a 600 Rule Calculator that’s basically identical to the 500 Rule Calculator, Hyperlapse Calculator to help with movement increments, Shutter Timer & Shutter Speed Calculator to help with adjusted shutter speeds when using various ND filters, and Camera Calculations, a 4-in-1 app that includes a countdown timer, 500 Rule Calculator, Camera Shake Calculator, and Shutter Speed Calculator ($1.99 vs $0.99 US for the standalone apps). Any feedback welcome.
I wanted to learn the basics of iOS app development, and also wanted to make it easy to do photography calculations without memorizing stuff or having to use the iOS calculator app, even though there’s nothing wrong with that. So there aren’t really any bells and whistles but hopefully the apps save others a lot of time. I mean, worrying about camera shake and whether or not to shoot handheld or tripod is a non-starter.
here are the direct links:

I’m still very much learning the basics of app development, but would love any suggestions to improve these apps or for new ones.
Best to everyone!
Chris
