Hi! I am new to LightStalking. Joined for the opportunity to get criticized, learn a lot, and expand my love & practice. I am still relatively new to digital. I shot film for a while with Minolta and Nikon (preferred Minolta); had the M stolen and the N wrecked. Thought about going pro but then did the homework. I give away enlargements as gifts. I’ve done a few canvas, a very few on stainless. Am inching forward. Daughter gave me a Kodak 14-mp which got me hooked again. Have since bought a Canon 75i with two-lens intro kit and slowly am adding minor goodies like tripod, monopod, SanDisk reader et al. Will be looking to join Flickr and more very soon. I am retired, was medically disabled (ok now), ambualtory compromise due to stroke, and live in New England. I (try to) do landscape, travel, “street”. I try to watch as many good videos as I can find on the “how to” front. I own a desktop Mac OS 10.13.6. Looking forward to being fully engaged here. Just bought new HP printer which can do 4×6 photos. Moving toward photo insert cards again and maybe this time a calendar.

Hey Dahlia, and thanks for your response. Speaking of learning, all my new photo gear is insured for home, car or by itself. Thanks for the “getting started” tips. My next step is to get a Flickr account but for some reason Flickr will not recognize my e-mail account at Apple’s Cloud. I look forward to swimming in that tank. I will press on regardless.

I got the Flickr account but my Mac won’t recognize it. Guess I’ll have to wait for the computer genie to wake up.

Allows Edits? Yes@boydownthelane Why is the Flickr account not recognised? Do you come across any error while trying to login and did you try a different browser?

Dahlia, progress has been made. I have an account, an avatar, a bio, but I am still trying to figure out what I need to do (how) to upload pix. It’s apparent I also need to refine the steps I routinely take in order to insure proper sizing. I do my post-production with the built-in Mac OS software (I have not yet sprung for the Adobe. There’s a lot about Flickr I haven’t mastered. Problem is, photo___ is still a pastime, a hobby. I do a lot of writing on the side about life up here north of the Marquesas. But isn’t it wonderful that we can come together like this from anywhere on the planet?

Thanks, Rob. Heluva good site you have constructed here. Much for me to consume. I’ve seen a few of the photos posted by others and I am duly humbled. Undoubtedly they are using bigger, faster, better lenses and other equipment, but my mantra is that it’s not the gear, it’s the bloke (or blokette?) who decides when to open the shutter.

I looked around with a search engine to see if I could solve the upload problem I have encountered and it appears that it is an Apple OS issue: https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157652234093755/.
I’ve run into similar issues with Canon; Apple does not play well with other vendors.
I’m not sure Imgur is a righteous alternative to Flickr, and the Flickr help team has not answered my queries. Meanwhile, I am going to investigate DreamHost for blogging purposes.

After all these many months, I am pleased to say (thanks to the folks at Flickr who made some changes) that I have a Flickr account [ https://www.flickr.com/people/163860478@N03/ ] and have started to particpate in the forums. Glad tidings to all who are stalking the light.
