Allows Edits? NoMy friend bought me “The Photographers Playbook” for Christmas and this was the first experiment I decided to do. Fitting that it was the same friend who appears in this image. The instruction was for the subject to find the reflection of their own eyes in the lens. I learned quite a bit doing this shot – the subject can’t see themselves on a sunny day if you point the lens directly at them, the reflection you get in the shot is actually yourself, the photographer. What I also learned is this technique really creates intimacy between photographer and subject. There’s a hidden element I haven’t captured before in a portrait.
I’d love to see how you guys go with this. I’m certainly going to try it again!

Allows Edits? NoI should have named the thread something more unique to help explain what I meant! So the reflection I am talking about is asking the subject to find the reflection of their own eyes in your lens.
I have another one I did recently and this one was much easier for the subject to see herself in the lens.

He just kept on asking “What is a ‘lens'”? 😉

Allows Edits? YesGreat idea! ‘Means the viewer later really has a sense that the subject is looking at them. Will try his when home. 😉
