  Sorry you missed it as it was really a sight to see. The moon was brilliant last evening also but not a Blood Moon. The eclipse began pretty early here on the west coast of the U.S. Otherwise, like you, I may have been asleep!

  One of the first shots after buying my Nikon 300mm f/4 lens a while ago. I got up at 3h30 to photograph the blood moon on Monday morning but unfortunately our city lights / smog combo did not allow for a shot I’d be proud of.

  Tobie, Seeing your photo, I wish I had a 300 mm lens. Despite the city lights and smog that you mentioned, it shows so much detail. Amazing!

    Thanks Chrissie – just for clarity: my shot above was not taken during the blood moon – it was taken a while before that. The blood moon was beautiful to see but a loss case for photographic purposes from where I stayed. I think there was a thin layer of fleece clouds high up which made it even worse.

  @Tobie, I’ve read a number of posts on line from different areas of the world that missed the event due to weather conditions. Not to worry, it will come around again in 2033 (when I’m viewing it from above 😉

  Gordon, The soft muted colors work beautifully and the negative space with a vertical format. Could be an ad for Brittany Ferries.

  No blood moon in the southern hemisphere this time around, but I still have a couple for the challenge.
  
  Through a 10″ Dobsonian Telescope. FL: 1200mm @ F6.0
  
  This was taken with a Sigma 150-600mm lens that I owned for two days before an accident smashed it… 🙁

  Thanks Tobie. These were done with my Sony A77 and Tamron 10-24mm lens. 10mm, 30 seconds, f3.5, ISO 1600. In camera dark frames.
