My name is Cheryl. I am a South African and have been in the UK for a year now (with two visits home to sunny SA!). The most moving photo I can think of in an instant is Sam Nzima’s iconic pic of Hector Pieterson on the day of the Soweto riots in South Africa however, it is more your beautiful countryside (Cotswolds) which has inspired me. I would love to take advantage of all the advice I can get although feel it necessary to confess that I am still taking photo’s with my iphone. I have every intention of buying a decent camera next year!

The iphone is a great camera. Think of all the advantages it has–compact, light weight, always have it with you, wide angle (gets you to see things differently and forces you to get closer), and the images aren’t bad. I often shoot with my cell phone even though I have several “decent cameras.” My wife works exclusively with her cell phone and does wonderful work.
