Well, I’m sitting here, reading up on Dada, surrealism, Man Ray and Lee Miller (of whom we happen to have her biography!).

So you definitely gave me a push in the right direction đŸ˜‰

Thank you for your feedback, Tom, I think you are completely right in stating that the picture needs to tell something more. Right now it’s just a curious/somewhat side effect of deleting the pole, but nothing really disconcerting/emotive.

I like the idea of exploring more the surreal side of photography, but I need to go deeper into the rabbit hole, so to speak.

Again, thank you so much for the feedback; I needed that!

        Cheers, Matthew

            Hi Tersha,

Thank you for the feedback; I tried darkening the bottom part, but then the attention gravitates there instead of the mirror…

This picture was a bit of a mistake as well, because I forgot to adjust my ISO settings, so it was at 3200 at which point the pictures become very noisy with my camera. I only found out back at home, so I had to make do with what I had.

@tobie Thanks for the advice on the horizon, I see what you mean. The dust spots have been taken care of!

I love the look. Since you describe the cottage as being gothic (and it is marvellously looking fairy tale like cottage), why not pull out all the stops and give it a dark forboding twist with a lot of dark hues?

Hi, my name is Matthieu and I am from Haarlem in the Netherlands. I am an amateur and a bit of a noob but I’m having loads of fun photographing all kinds of subjects.

                        I have a Sony A300 with a telelens, a kitlens and a f1.8/50mm.
