Totally agree that a lower angle would be better… not only would it make the image more powerful as said above, but it would get rid of the jumble of limbs beneath the dog. I find my eye follows his legs in all directions and leads me out of the photo, especially since there are no paws, they are all chopped off at the doggie wrists. It’s a pet…[Read more]

Just looking at this photo I have no idea what your subject is. A teeny tiny boat, a slightly larger man, and a fairly large palm tree cropped out in an unflattering way. (Oh wait that’s two palm trees right?) If the subject is the beach there is far too much randomness going on to see that.

The composition works. I feel, however, that this photo might be better as a silhouette. I get lost in the texture and shiny nails in the wood and I think this diminishes the person fishing. Making the woman and bench mostly black would make this image more powerful.
