      Here is the link to it on Flickr http://flic.kr/p/f21sQP

      I was at 30mm focal length, and 1/160 shutter, so any lack of focus was a result of it being handheld and not on a tripod. Guess I need to work on the stance a bit more (only had an slr for about 8 months, and was planning my wedding in that time, so still learning). Appreciate the input, good to be aware of keeping a steadier hand when no tripod is available. (I’m sure the hour’s worth of rum punch leading up to this on our boat tour didn’t help đŸ˜‰

      I also felt it could use some more foreground, but again, some ‘common folk’ liked it more than I did and I wanted to see if it was actually better than I thought it was. I just wanted to post it on here to see if I was just being too critical of my own shot or if it was in fact missing something. Definitely sounds like the foreground needs some work, so thanks for helping me out guys!

        I’m kind of new to this. When I uploaded the picture to my album using the method of uploading the pic to my album and then sharing it from there, I used the original hi-res file, but it must have condensed it. Is there a way to upload it full size?

          Thanks for the feedback guys!

          @camerasinger
          , when you say sharper palm trees do you just mean have a steadier hand (believe I used spot focusing on the trees) or a wider aperture to differentiate between the sharp tree and a out of focus (and hazy) peak?

          @fidelito
          , I don’t really take too much stock in friends and family opinions unless they have some kind of background, but when looking though my album multiple people picked this one out of about 100, which I personally thought was ok, but not my best, which is why I wanted some more knowledgable opinions.

          With the lighting, you are correct with the time of day. I was on a boat tour that made a stop for lunch and their were no tours that took us there around sunset, so had to make do in the middle of the day. My settings were at f/7.1, shut 1/160, ISO 100 with a polarizing filter. I think the reason I had these settings is that I had just gotten off a speed boat and probably still had it on Shutter Priority Mode to get pictures while we were moving, so I’m guessing closing the aperture would have given more detail to the Pitons (peak).

          As for the haze, is there a good filter to reduce this or is that just something that is normally fixed in post?

          Thanks again fellas, appreciate it!
