With her light complexion and blond hair, I wonder if she’d look better against a dark background.
There also seems to be a feeling of strength and power to her pose and features, more masculine than feminine in a way. If this is the effect you were after, you’ve succeeded admirably. If not, perhaps cropping much tighter might reduce this…[Read more]

I think landscape scenes get stronger when they have something of interest in the foreground. Here, the silhouette of a person fairly close to the photographer but facing toward the setting sun, for example. Or a million other possibilities. Check It Out

More photoshop play if you’re inclined: You could get rid of the electric poles and the wires. And those trees and buildings to the left of the engine can go. How about just replacing them with more featureless sky? I agree the train needs room in front of it to breathe, but all those tree branches are tickling its nose.Check It Out

I’d probably crop it in a lot tighter around horse and rider. Making them — the subject — more prominent and eliminating substantial portions of the brush and sky. I mean, the bushes and colorful sky are fine, but there will still be plenty remaining after a crop. Check It Out

Wonder how the image would look in monochrome or HDR, tastefully done? I’m not suggesting either would be an improvement, mind you. Just curious. Might be interesting to see all three treatments side by side.

You say you were unsuccessful in adding more drama to the clouds. How about compositing in some storm clouds from another photo? Thunderheads, say? Making the selection should be relatively easy given the contrast between the church and the sky.

I’m fond of turtles and water, and both in your photo are just lovely. I am wondering how it might look if you were to darken the rock a good bit in post? The way it is now, the turtle’s shell and portions of the rock are quite similar in color and tone, making them not visually separate at first glance. If you darkened down that rock quite a lot,…[Read more]

Really like the colors and the feel they give. Re composition, what if you lowered your camera more? So that more of the subject (you) is silhouetted against the sky, say. Head, shoulders, maybe even the uppermost portion of the bench, all against the light sky rather than the dark water and distant hills. That would help fill that empty space in…[Read more]

I’m fond of split rail fences. I wish you’d shot it in the foreground, and then let it work as a leading line carrying
the eye deeper into the photo, perhaps toward the tree. I’d also include those yellow wild flowers right at the foot of the fence in the immediate foreground. Position the camera low, at the level of the flowers, with the fence…[Read more] -

I feel really dumb after reading the previous really top-notch comments, but at first I didn’t even recognize it to be a pregnant belly. Little shoes on a rather odd shaped melon? I thought.
Why did you decide on B+W instead of leaving it in color? I hope I wouldn’t have had such difficulty recognizing the subject if it were in flesh tones. -
Bill Dudley replied to the topic Lunch time in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y, 9mo ago
I’d try cropping off some of the uninteresting water on the top and left side of the image. Some off the bottom too, but leave all the greenish reflection of the ducks (or whatever you call them.) Other than that, I can’t come up with one thing that needs improvement, and I tend to be a pretty critical person. I know we’re not supposed to…[Read more]

I assume you’re shooting in raw. If not, do, so you can edit in post.
Crop a good bit of the water in the foreground; likewise some of the left side of the photo. This will still allow adequate space for the ship to “sail into,” as well as making the ship larger in relation to the photo as a whole.
If you have Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw in…[Read more] -
