@Erik I will probably go for an XT4 too, but I haven’t soon one yet in the flesh 🙂

Wow! Thank you for all the helpful comments! I do like both Graham’s and Federico’s versions, and I’m torn between them. I’ve cropped and cleaned it up a little, edited more in Federico’s style, darkened the floor and used an average blur for some arches to lessen the effect of the rust lines. I’m not sure about the upper right of the resulting image though …

Whoops, I meant to say @admin, yes, I was thinking of darkening the floor too. Maybe using luminosity masks?

Thanks guys, that’s a really good suggestion about cropping the LHS. I was wondering about adding a human figure in the background? The scene was really a set of arches that I’ve edited to make an abstract. You can see a clearer view here. I will also not give an EXIF dump next time! 😉

@Frank: yes, I’ve been a Fuji shooter for about 4 years and love this system. I still have my Canon equipment, but I rarely use it now.

For the second image you need to change the white balance to something around 3,000K to get rid of the brown colour of the sky in the image. BTW, it’s ‘astronomy’ not ‘astrology’! 😉
