Regarding the lens the 18-135 is all I have right now. Hopefully in the future will have a real telephoto lens.

I would like to have some tips on improving capturing the Moon. What I want to achieve is a detailed, documentary like, photo. Not trying to insert a mood to it.

I took this one last September.
Baia delle Zagare, Gargano, Italy. Zagare are citrus flowers of which the bay was rich.
Taken with Samsung S7 in HDR mode. No editing done by me.
