Thanks @tersha and @Tobie
@bucweeet Thanks for your comments but what you disliked is exactly what I was trying to do. I found the background to be the least interesting part of the photo. I liked the way the light shined on the sea grass (?) and that the scene repeated itself in the near background
@njkOOO @Tobie – thanks for your comments
@ Tobie and @bucweeet – I like it too. Thanks
@Erik Fransman – The rock appearing image is actually the stern of the boat that has broken off. Thanks for your comments
Dahlia Ambrose – in my mind the primary points I wanted to capture were the sky, boat and pier. To the left of the boat was just open ocean – not that attractive in my opinion. Thanks for your CC.
Thanks for your comments, Tobie
Thanks all. I do believe a photo can tel a story throughout the frame and doesn’t have to have a single focus point.
Thanks for your comment. As you can see, there isn’t much in the sky to see. It was a very blue day, so I showed as little of the sky I could in order to get the reflection.
Thanks for your comments. I wanted show exactly what Admin mentioned, an adobe type building, the brilliant red vine on the wall, the old farm machine as a hint of the ways things used to be done and the faint mist in the background. I didn’t think any of those things interesting enough to be the main focal point.
Thanks for your comments. I don’t usually increase saturation but I don’t have the raw file anymore.
My usual process in LR is to lower highlights/shadows and increase blacks and sometimes contrast.
Tom – thanks for your comments.
Thanks Irene and Albirder
Thanks all for your comments
I like it. You’ve taken a mundane subject and given life to it.
Well done. I like the leading lines and the fog. The railing on the bottom is a little distracting. Perhaps a tighter crop.
Thanks Tobie
Thanks for your comments SimonParks. I tried your suggestion but didn’t like the result – it seemed to add more noise. So I tried 2 things: Photo 1 – redownloaded the original LR version in Aurora HDR and reduced the HDR effect & noise.
<script async src=”//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>
Photo 2: Took the original LR and Aurora HDR versions and blended in the sky from the LR version
<script async src=”//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>
What do you think?
