I love the feeling of menace with the three people waiting for the sole man to get near to them! Maybe lighten the LH shadows a little, but I think it’s a great photo.Check It Out

The original picture was strangely disturbing. The second version is a lot more calm. Must be the windmill (?) but I don’t understand why.

You could select blues and cyans in the saturation box and reduce the saturation and add some lightness. This might affect other areas. If this seems to be happening, select just the area of bridge and background you want to affect before reducing the saturation.

This would be my crop. More definite lead in with the elephants but still showing scenery.

I would lighten the blue of the hills behind showing underneath the bridge roadway and maybe reduce the saturation. This would lift the bridge itself. At the moment, all the bridge structure below that line is a bit lost, especially in the two spans to the left.

Jean Cotton replied to the topic My favourite of my many cats in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y, 7mo ago
Taking photos of cats is never easy, especially if they are outside. I like the expression – slightly anxious, but interested, but the bar across is very distracting. Try to get all of the cat’s head into the photo – cropped ears or whiskers look odd. Try indoors after a meal (cat’s not yours!) when they are relaxed and probably washing…[Read more]

Hi josemi, I’m sorry I wasn’t here to answer your post earlier (see my post about holiday last week). I would love to see your edits, and I agree that uploading a picture is not straightforward. As this whole forum is dependent on uploaded photos, it should be made easier.
As I remember it, you have to upload your picture(s) into your album,…[Read more] -

Thanks for all your comments. I’m off to Glencoe for a week tomorrow morning, where there is little or no wifi available. So I’ll be able to concentrate on relaxing and possibly taking photos. Forecast is for rain, heavy rain, mist, galeforce winds and thunderstorms – typical Scottish weather. Better take an umbrella! TTFN.

I’ve had a look at the larger version, and it looks sharp to me.

Yes, I think the additional red has made the turquoise bluer. I hadn’t noticed. Maybe I should select the red anorak and just increase the saturation for that area.

I took this picture yesterday using a Canon Ixus I got on ebay secondhand so that I would always have a camera with me. It was taken at 1/60 sec, f9, focal length 5.90. Initially I was attracted by the turquoise railings and took a shot. Then a young couple started up the steps and I thought they added a lot to the image. I have cropped it and…[Read more]

Tom would be surprised and delighted to be identified with Socrates. He gave me a copy of Socrates’ Symposium shortly after we met. It was beyond me then. And still is!

I really like this version too! It reminds me of the B&W film photos I used to take with a twin lens reflex camera and a 1934 leica 35m. Oh, and the smell of fix!

Can anyone suggest a (preferably free) plug-in that produces better quality enlargements than Elements11’s own system?

I think I agree with you about the position of the tree in the frame. I have been thinking about the Golden Mean. When I was at Art College over 50 years ago, I used it in paintings and drawings. Over the years, my own personal golden mean seems to have drifted towards the centre. I have measured several of my favourite photos and in each one…[Read more]
