Wouldnt let me upload, sorry.
Thank you Michael, that was exactly the constructive criticism I was looking for. Luckily I live close enough to the pier to attempt this photo again soon, I’m not so sure the sunset will be quite so good. I think I will try the HDR method and see what I can come up with, and also I will try the f-stop lower in addition to wiping the filter more often. The thing I was frustrated with is I did wipe it pretty often, but I didnt see the spots in the viewfinder until I got home and downloaded the photo. This picture was one of my favorites but it was even worse and you can’t lighten it enough without seeing the spots. Lesson learned!
Can you clarify what you mean by “FLAT” please?
I was out there for about an hour before I got this shot and I kept having to wipe off the lens because of the salt air and wind coming in from the ocean that was getting on it. I think the softness may have been due to that because if I zoom in to the original you can see very good detail on the roundhouse at the end of the pier but you can also see a bit of round fuzzy detail that looks to me like junk on the lens 🙁
Definitely would like to see more of the top of your head on this one…new at this photography stuff, but that was my first impression when I saw the picture…thanks!
Also, the color may be vibrant because I used a polarizing filter. This was not done in direct sunlight at all, it was shady. The only sunlight is on the flower directly to the left and above a small beam.
Hi there all – just getting started on this photography journey and love doing macro flower photography. Would love any feedback you have on what could make this better. Thanks!!
@ehpem, thank you! It took me probably 20 tries to get him in focus, but it was pretty fun trying! 🙂
