Thanks Dahlia, yes I tend to agree, the foreground is better than the little tufts of grass sticking up out of nowhere.
Thanks Tom, yes it was the ripples in the sand that caught my eye, then the boat was a bit of a bonus to add a bit of a story, I’ll see how I go with a re-shoot. Maybe I’ll take a couple of shots to bracket and improve the sky.
Thank you Dahlia, yes I have fixed the white balance. I tried a tight panoramic type crop but I think I really need to try and improve the composition by doing the shot again. I tis only a few minutes away from where I live and would b definitely worth the effort.
I went back to the original RAW and fixed the colour and also did this 16:9 aspect so the original composition can be seen for interest.Hi Jasenka, thank you for your interest and comments. As I noted in my reply to Jason I think that’s the way the horizon actually looked that day.
Yes the white balance was a bit off and I’ve redone and will post below. Thanks Adam, I really appreciate your thoughtful critique. I seemed to have it in my head that f/8 would give me a good depth of field, however after your comment I had a look at some others I took that day and f/9 and f/10 are much clearer. I need to go and retake with a tighter aperture.
It was a little murky looking across the water that day as there had been an early morning fog.
Yes they are channel markers to define the channel as the waterway overall is quite shallow.
The white balance was a bit off and I have fixed and will repost later.
Thanks Graham, it’s not always like this, but it is becoming one of my favourite local spots, especially when it is a beautiful calm day like this.
Graham, I really like your framed cityscape shot, beautiful, enhances the modern city look with the classic pavillion framing and the colours and clarity are excellent. Cheers …Lindsay
Thanks Pamela, I agree reflections would be a challenge.
Thanks Robert, I only just realised what the Weekend Challenge is and now appreciate having an objective set to motivate me to get out and find something of interest.
I went for a walk this morning around a nearby small lake with framing in mind. It was nice still day with good clouds and reflections.
Yes Tobie, good suggestion, I agree a great spot for a starscape.
Thanks John, lovely spot with the Old River Dam and Lake Argyle and Lake Kununurra right in the middle of town.
Yes Tobie, it’s a bit hot in the middle of summer but very nice this time of the year.
Thanks Dahlia, I see what you mean with the sky. No filter. I checked back with all of the original shots and they all have the lighter section in the lower sky. It was taken just after sunrise and with the almost cloudless sky it looks like that.

Thanks Anne, this was the best photographic experience on our trip. I just took off for a longish walk before sunset amongst the rocks at Devil’s Marbles and took a lot of beautiful photos.
Thanks Tobie. I can’t believe it is a month since I posted this, I’ve been a bit busy and the internet pretty spasmodic.
Thanks Misty, you flatter me, I’ve never entered anything but I guess I should try some day. We’ve been travelling for 6 weeks now, starting to head back tomorrow, a different way home that is.
Thank you Dahlia, I appreciate your ongoing interest. It is pleasure to be able to share some with people who appreciate the beauty.
