Yes, I agree that this is more balanced…..and more deliberate. I like it 🙂
I find it distracting that two of the three flower heads have been cut off……. It doesn’t look to me that it was done on purpose, but more by accident. I like the lighting and the colour, but the composition doesn’t appeal to me at all.
I guess this would be considered a close up, taken with a 100mm Marco lens 🙂
Macro? or close up? ….. fascinating in either case!! Great shot!!
“Awesome” in the true sense, @tersha!! And yes, I did spot it, crouching there inside 🙂

First Snow by Joanna on Light StalkingGood try at Christmas tree light bokeh! I would have preferred it if the lights had more of the shape of the tree with less black negative space … and lighten up the candle stick to give some focus in the foreground. What distracts me the most is the blur of the blue lights and the unevenness of the colours.
Beautiful vintage ornaments, @karamen !!

I shot this scene from this angle so that the viewer could not only see what the artists were focusing on, but also what they created on the canvas. I have been criticized for not taking the photograph from the other direction, to show the artist’s faces. That would have been a totally different story……
These artists were in the olive orchard in St. Remy, Provence, France… near what was formerly the asylum St.Paul where Vincent Van Gogh spent a year (1889-1890) painting his famous series “Olive Trees”.
@debra I really like this shot, and your comments about it. Personally, I would not crop or clone out the chair tops. It is, after all, “Street Photography” and as such is not expected to be “perfect”. As far as I’m concerned the chair tops give the image context and volume. If anything I would have liked to see more of the chairs and slightly less negative space at the top. Again, I love the “story” , as written, and visually!!
Thanks @tingleberry !! I *was* trying to get more emphasis and drama in the shot….. I actually did use a flashlight to brighten the zipper, but as you can tell, from only one direction. I really appreciate your advise!!
I feel the touch of colour adds more interest. IMO the B&W is a bit flat.
Not sure exactly what you want, but here goes….
November 18, 2014 at 9:17 am in reply to: Weekend Photography Challenge #210 Movement or variation #163672Yes, there are some really wonderful photographs here, however, IMO this one truly fills the challenge of getting my EYE to “travel in, around and through your photograph”. (Isn’t Paris a photographer’s dream!!)
No, definitely not in B&W. The touches of green really bring life to the image IMO.
All things bright and beautiful….. all creatures great and small
Here, I filled up all the space to get “up close and personal” to focus in on Nala’s eyes 🙂
