@tpinck The photo is of Bryce Canyon so it is a huge bowl style amphitheater canyon.
@redman – Thank you for pointing out the fringing on the top. I thought I had addressed it but I guess i missed it. The trees are dark due to using the grad ND filter. I need to take it back into photoshop and dodge them…[Read more]

I agree with @jvatnd. Darkening the wheel slightly and having the spokes in tone would make a more striking image. Sometimes selective colour works brilliantly to “pop” a certain detail, but I think in this case the image would work well without as it actually detracts more than adds anything to the image.

having a hard time being negative here so I’ll agree with @jvatnd and say a more colorful background would make this just super.

Thank you @jvatnd and @spiritvision for your comments. I had thought originally that my bird was lonely in the frame without that bit of dark in the corner to anchor him. I had had no feedback on this image, though, other than the mandated positive responses on G+. I am very glad I posted here!

@jvatnd I agree that a more neutral, or natural, background would be better, but what is wrong with just photographing a beautiful flower? Why does this image have to be “about” anything? Just askin’
