I can’t share my photo’s in my post without spamming the post to be long but here is my fb page.. https://www.facebook.com/pg/KrystalAllenPhotography/photos/?ref=page_internal . like i said, i’m not offering so i published it just to share with you guys.
some of my examples are older than others, and i’ve not got to add much this past year sense i’ve had my new 50mm lens. here is one i took at my sons birthday tho if it helps you get an idea of what i go for.
i went on ahead and kept it in there. i figure i’m going to be doing a seperate date for the contract signing anyways, a few extra proofs will be worth it. I’m so terrified to start up. The last 6 years i’ve not worked.. part because my pregnancy and part because my husband wanted me to have the time at home with our son. Heck even right now with him in kindergarten we are doing wonderful, and housework tends to be my job but i love photography so darn much i’d love to earn my gear. so i’m starting out with a canon eos rebel T3 and a 50mm 1.8 lens. I’ve done photo gigs before, but for friends. so being in a town where i hardly know anyone is unnerving for me and i’m scared that i’ll mess up or won’t be able to get clients because i don’t have a studio. Its scary lol
so you don’t think its going to come off wierd ?
thank you for the feedback everyone!
right now macro is all i’m shooting becore the winter weather sets in and takes all my bugs away. but i miss being able to walk around and shoot things that caught my eye.. i think thats my main struggle. people around here look at you like your nude or something when your taking pictures from the street and thats what i always did. when i wasn’t taking pictures of my family or friends, i was either doing nature scenes, wildlife, or i’d just go around my old town and gush over the older buildings. Here there are plenty of beautiful buildings but people really don’t like when you randomly stop and start taking pictures of their house you know?
I think another one of my funk traits is, this year i went from being a full time mother to part time mommy because he started school.. and my life hasn’t been the same as it was sense he was born… in a positive light i mean. I had a pretty shitty life before my son came along and a ton of my impulse shooting came from being upset all the time or really depressed. i was my therapy.. now that i’m really happy, married, have an amazing home and life… i just don’t get those impulses anymore and the emotions aren’t the same.
yes, a business licence 🙂
I think I can make a killing doing this for a living, i really do. doing it right is first priority for many reasons but mainly to make sure i’m a safe choice for my clients. I have dreamed about becoming a full or part time photographer sense i was 16 and i’m 23.
Oh the courthouse said that sense i wasn’t using a studio that they didn’t need anything. no tax’s because i wasn’t making over 1400 a year and it wasn’t considered a business because there was no studio.
I don’t know how natural light photography fallows the “business” plain but up here where i am, there are a TON of Natural light photographers making at least a part time job out of their work, but there are non in my town so i was hoping to do some free sessions, build my portfolio and get my site up so i have everything perfect. That being said, i was needing to know, sense i never see it, if i need a liability contract to prevent me from getting sued, if i needed to register my name or anything like that. I don’t feel like these girls doing this are taking into account the consequences if they shoot for someone and don’t have the proper document to prevent them from getting sued.
I have a soon to be two year old, if i get sent to jail, he go’s to his drug addict biological father and i can’t have that. Besides that point, i’d love to build on my gear and be able to help with bills or travel expenses.
Missouri is a state that blurs lines alot and so i’m not 100%, i wonder if i should consult with the treasurer at the courthouse for answers but i’m not sure how to write up a proper document that will be iron clad in protecting me from being sued or any other form of lashback.
ya i can see that. I was doing test shots with a new basket prop and he just would not stop wiggling around in it so we put him on the blanket but then the sun came out and he was wensing. i have better one’s of him tho. he’s my little model lol
these specific photo’s i don’t have that to describe or i would. these are a tad older. the portrait of my cousin and her son with the white background was a Photoshop project.
sorry i’m trying to make corrections
OH! I never thought about that! That is an absolutely brilliant idea! We live in north western Missouri and our town is very small and i’m starting new so I am trying to make a great impression on my work! That is a brilliant way to propose a shoot!
oh my goodness where do i start.
for one, in order to make a good clean cut of the background you need a program like Photoshop. That is how i learned to do it in school.
you can get tutorials via youtube by searching, “DIY digital backgrounds”
what you do is open your background first.
then open you photo in a new layer.
what i do is use the magnetic selection tool and go all the way around where you want the background and then go up to select when you have everything selected and choose invert. this will change your selection to the part you want to save.
then you “cut” that image out.
now make a new layer and “paste” the selection.
from this point you have the option to go to your background layer and make it any color, you can go to your layer where your photo is and correct any outstanding places the unwanted background is at. Just don’t forget to delete the layer with the unwanted imagery on it.
a video i saw on youtube last Christmas taught me a neat trick, there is a tool on Photoshop called the dodge tool. Its sooooo useful to touch up edges so they don’t look like a cut out. you have to adjust the hardness tho or it looks more like your putting a halo around your subjects. I also use the blur tool before using the dodge to help reduce the halo effect and leaving a fake look.
there are lots of youtube video’s under the topic of how to imput a digital background that will help greatly. 🙂
if you want to see how mine turn out feel free to view my fb album below! hope this helps!!!
