Thanks Walter, yes I agree with you, I too like the darker sky. Origin in the image was darker, brought it up as well as the foreground. This I found difficult because the sun was only falling on the buildings and nothing closer. Have a couple of things to attempt here and will give a go at the tree etc so exited to try as I am on a learning curve…[Read more]

I think my main query here was that I completed this at the stage you now see. To me, I don’t know where else to go with it, or if I have a limited grasp of what makes it good. One response I received to center the tree and more exposure in the sky using PS or a filter. Those are the views of another and I will attempt those suggestions and see…[Read more]

Thank you very much for your response. In the process of learning photo editing so I will use this image and follow your advise. A rookie mistake I guess, so overwhelmed by the rainbow started forgetting other prime aspects of the shot…centering is a big one!…thanks again.

Dali would have been proud of you. Nice perspective…would like to see the leading water edge closer.

James W Greenway replied to the topic What would you different? in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y, 9mo ago
What would I do different to improve that photo?…Well I would take multiple photography classes, spend hours upon hours of learning what my camera can do for me, seek professional advisement, get better photo editing software then come and get you so you can show me how to shoot that shot so I may have a chance to improve it.

James W Greenway replied to the topic Can I make this "pop" ? in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y, 9mo ago
Not sure what exposure you want out of this shot. For me before sunset, I would try to preserve the ambiance your have now and reasoning I would use for using vibrancy control over clarity is that way it does not defeat the lower light shot but the cat being more color solid will be lifted rather than bring up all areas.

I think if I was editing in LR, add a little more black, lighten the mids with shadow slider and increase hilights a touch and decrease the whites, whites I think need to come down to downplay foreground grass. Vibrancy control will add some pop at this time. I would then go to post crop vignetting under highlight priority and move to a negative,…[Read more]

Hey Stewart…thank you for the post. It may be as much of a confidence builder as a kick start to follow the advise I have received regarding. I truly hope that when I have reached the auto complicating with technicalities that I never forget where I came from…

Good post Walter, thank you very much. Got lots to go back and work with. On an adjunct note, I did shoot in Raw and my tiff looks (dark and textures) much better than what is posted here, being only a 228kb image. Love the black and white thought…

Appreciate that advise Gabriel I do see the merit in what you are saying..Paul intimated the same. I think I got overwhelmed by the picture and lost sight of the image.

I think people who are lacking photography experience and knowledge, as in most areas of our lives, it is difficult to render a critique especially in light of the fact we have been trained to offer praise to benefit acceptance. Then secondary, I feel somewhat inadequate being a novice to offer anything that may seem like I know something…

Thanks for the input Paul. On these types of shots (forward-dramatic) I will take your advise and enlarge the crop see how that resonates with me.

I am new to LS forms and photography for that matter…lost my wife’s point and shoot on holidays a year ago so purchased a replacement (upgrade-canon t21). Since then I have been obsessed. I continue to use the t2i with a 10-22 and 55-250 lenses and added a 6D with a 24-105. My hope in this venue is to learn and I am trusting there are those…[Read more]
