A simple tip for those living in the cold tundra; before heading indoors when the temps are below freezing, leave the camera inside the camera bag. Leave the bag zipped for several hour, even over night. Otherwise condensation forms.

Condensation is not easy to remove from lens. nor is it easy to remove from the sensor after lens changing.
Lessons are typically learned the hard way.

      • Though I doubt I will ever be in that situation, that is an excellent tip ! Thanks @northmetrophoto .

      • In the tropics, it works the other way. Step out of an air conditioned building (which most are) into 100% humidity and every bit of glass looks like the bathroom window, including the glasses you are wearing. A very hazardous situation and great for soft focus but little else. Solution? Shove your camera up your jumper or down your shorts for 10 minutes or so before you step outside. Now this is fine if you are using a point and press but try it with a D3 with a 70-200 lens attached. I’ve seen little old ladies faint at the mere sight of it.
The alternative to frightening your neighbours is to keep your gear (cameras, that is) in a warm cupboard buried in silica gel.

        • I have a D3x, and that advice could result in damaging myself permanently and/or being charged with misleading advertising, (especially with the 600 mm lens attached.)
