Open water on the rarely frozen over Lake Superior – Larsmont, Minnesota; just north of Duluth, Minnesota.
I am reading” Speedliter’s Handbook: Learning to Craft Light with Canon Speedlites” by Syl Arena and re-reading “The Confused Photographer’s Guide to Photographic Exposure and the Simplified Zone System” by Bahman Farzad

I too enjoy the dark of the night, wandering about with camera while most people are safely planted at home or in the pubs. Nice and quiet this solitude and a chance to capture some brilliant images. Typically, we focus on city lights at night. But you have provided the inspiration to capture natural or minimal light.

I also have been thinking about this for some time and have yet to make the purchase. I have used my friends Alien Bees strobes with softbox and they work well. The weak link is the remote trigger system. Pocket Wizards are much too pricey.

It depends, on the last use. But usually it is my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8

I do not have a smart phone; I have a dumb phone. I can make and receive phone calls, text and check email, twitter and facebook. (strange, facebook is now both a noun and a verb) Surfing the web is all but impossible without the data plan that my phone does not have that capability.
In my opinion, the camera phone AND facebook has ruined photography. People are now more accepting of mediocre and dreadful images as long as they can easily post them to facebook.

To have both in one lens could work, but you may be disappointed with the results. I have a zoom macro lens and well, the results disappoint me. As stevedias and tomdinning pointed out, those are good macro options.
The 24-135 is a big overlap in focal reach with your 55-200 and has a non-constant f-stop. Maybe the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 might better fill your wide angle needs in the future. The 28-75 is a constant f2.8. Though a little soft in focus at f2.8, it is a pretty good lens for the money.

I must agree with thepaparazzo to a degree. Sometimes after we learn this craft we come to realize the camera we have can not achieve the specific task we desire.
Photography is like fishing, or golf. We purchase all kinds of gear because we can and it is fun. Lord knows I have enough fishing lures to last me until I am at least 210 years old. All them lures haven’t made me a better fisherman, but I sure have fun using them…and loosing them. I also have an eye on a new driver to replace my Big Bertha to improve my golf game, but my D.A. ( Domestic Authority) has said “en, oh – No!” I must comply with her.
Anyway, a lot of what is typed in these forums are witty tongue in cheek type of speak. Nothing malicious, just a twist with a dry sense of humor to make a point.

In my opinion, I would purchase PS Lightroom 3 as your primary RAW file editor and catalog software. Export the file in tiff format and open in Photoshop for further editing if necessary.
I do 80% of my editing using Lightroom and the rest in PS Elements using layers to enhance lighting and mainly for high pass sharpening. PS Elements 10 I have read has some of the new features as CS5.

Awesome! Nothing like the aroma of freshly baked breads.
