I actually worked on helping build this dam, many years ago. I needed a B&W photo for an online course assignment and thought this would make a good study. The colors are there and pleasant, but I would suggest waiting another few minutes to allow the sun to slip below the horizon a bit more. I think the colors would remain and also let some more detail into the photo, though you might have needed a little longer exposure which also may lend a bit more detail to the water. I agree with @fredf, about the slight tilt. As for the slight movement, I would try moving back several feet and maybe get a different angle. Perhaps lower the tripod so it is a bit more stable or try hanging a weight under the tripod to help stabilize it.

@fidelito The expression “close but no cigar” comes from the practice of giving cigars as prizes in games involving good aim at fairgrounds. It basically means a person failed to attain their objective.

I keep the 18 – 5 kit lens on my Pentax K-x. On my Pentax K1000 it is the 50 2.0 and on my Petri FT it is the 55 1.8. Although I seldom use the film cameras any more.
