I like the crop and eliminating the bush you hated. I’m impressed with the adding of rock. I don’t know how to do that. After adjusting my single image, I began to like the more natural look for this photo. I looking into reducing the ghosting issue. I would have provided a higher res but wasn’t sure what the limits are for this website. Thanks for your interest.
My last image is a single image without HDR and incorporates some of the suggestions. It is more natural but I still like the HDR rendering. This first submittal has been a very educating experience for my as it forced me to look more critically at my before composing and after editing. In addition, I’ve learned that different individuals see the same photo differently and no matter what you do, you can’t please everyone. Just be as creative and technically correct in selecting a subject and presenting it for review. For me, it only matters that I’m satisfied and those viewers that enjoy the image. Thanks to everyone.
Thanks for everyone’s inputs, it helps me. Here is the information about this image. I was on a business trip without a tripod that maybe some of the issues. I came across this site and wanted to try to capture the side light coming over the mountain and shinning on this area. The green color in the water is the way it was. In addition, my editing is towards the vivid to bring out the color and I’m not concerned about loosing the natural in favor of more vivid renditions. The noise issue concerns me s I’m not sure how to correct it. My D300 with a 18-200 f3.5-5.6 Nikon lens set at 1/125, f11, ISO 200 jpeg. Any suggestions are appreciated. Again, thanks for your comments. Attached is 1 of 3 of the HDR composite that has been edited in PS. I’m having the same problem with IE trying to upload this photo.
Sorry, my first time posting and I had issues with my browser. On third attempt, it took the image and my comments were not there. I’ll try to do better next time.
I finally figured it out how to enlarge the photos and I disagree with most of the comments. HDR renderings provide a more vivid interpretations and can provide more drama so the composition accomplishes your goals of drama and depth
Good experiment but maybe, a longer exposure would accomplish what you’re looking for.
I’m having the same problem in seeing your image large enough to comment in detail so I’ll focus on the compensation. My eye is immediately drawn to the large white storm cloud and the foreground acts as providing location where it was taken. As mentioned, lightening and possibly pulling back the zoom would provide a more substantive anchor. I think the two bushes do not lend anything but clutter to the picture. I take a lot of landscapes and find similar issues when I review and wish I would have taken more time to really SEE what is being photographed.
