          I just decided to start lurking again. I can’t believe it’s been 8 months since I poked my head in. Bad lurking etiquette.

              @jadewing Nikon has been using the same mount for quite a long time so you can buy any third party lens that connects to a Nikon mount. I use Sigma macro lenses on my Nikon D200 and my Nikon F80. For “true macro” look for a lens that gives you a 1:1 ratio – usually stated on the lens.
              I have also used Kenko’s extension tubes and they are a great lower cost option than a lens. There will be a loss of light reaching the sensor since you are essentially lengthening the lens but otherwise they get you in nice and close to your subject. Same goes for the bellows which if you go for this option has amazing sharpness if you get the right lens for it.

                          I don’t think family ever gets it even if they say they do. What’s important is you consider their feelings before going too crazy. I’m lucky enough at the moment to have no one to answer to but myself which means I tend to go overboard in my spending of fun new toys.
