Hi, Karamen – I’m the same as you. Never studied and really don’t know what I’m doing yet. But … the reason I’m on this site is to learn 🙂 It’s making us better already: I’m looking at everyone else’s great pics and learning how they do it (it’s still very daunting at this point but I’m going to keep at it) AND you’re prompted to go look up…[Read more]

Hello, all and Tom 🙂
Just joined a few days ago. Like Tom, I’m looking forward to learning, improving my work and sharing.
I’m a complete photography beginner with only a little time to spend on the site, but I’ll be on as often as I can. Looking forward to being in touch with everyone. Looks like a great community.
Cheers,…[Read more]

Reminds me of a Monet. This pic is the result of really wonky camera settings, taking the pic through a window in a snowstorm while doing 60 mph down the highway (the hubby was driving, not me lol). I was going to delete it, but then noticed that it looks a lot like an impressionist paining.

Very true nikon-nut! I agree with all of the comments above. That said, I have taken many a picture I was really in love with and when shown to others they thought them “okay”. I think it’s because, in my mind, I remember what my eye saw and it clouds what I think the camera sees – that’s what makes it soooo hard for me to critique my own work.…[Read more]

Looking forward to seeing more!
I know what you mean about “offend someone somewhere” – my husband and I have that issue as well (we’re both hunters and love the outdoors). But a whole lot of people don’t understand, so I’m very careful about what I post where and what I say to whom as well. You don’t have to worry about me at least 🙂 I just…[Read more]

Yeah, the cut off heads are bothering me too. Is this photo cropped? If so, could we see what the un-cropped version looks like? If not – whew, that’s a tough one! I’d almost say, Photoshop out everyone but the kids – but that’s a massive, complex change (and not sure how you/others feel about making that big of a change to the photo by…[Read more]

The colors and tree details make this very interesting – the sign (the black plaque on the right side of the left tree) is somewhat distracting to me in this composition (only because it would turn it, imho, from looking like a picture of a tourist spot into a window/vignette of the location – almost like a glimpse into the life of the figure in…[Read more]

Susanne Ball replied to the topic Wild Garlic in the forum The Shark Tank Feedback Forum 10y, 2mo ago
I like the focus on the single garlic flower – very nice and crisp. To me, however, the extreme blurs in the bottom left corner of the photo district the attention from the bloom. They look almost like clouds or fog and my eye kept going to them wondering what they were. They don’t bother me as much behind the flower (on the right) as they do in…[Read more]
