@cadmium-dreams. I like the square format, but unfortunately the shot lacks sharpness; probably this was a hand-held shot. A tripod, or sturdy support is essential for this kind of shots to achieve sharpness especially, if as you said, you made the shot outside. Care must also be taken to reduce excessive highlights like the underrside of the…[Read more]

The shot was made with a macro lens which I focused on the flower and patiently awaited the bee to come into focus and fired away. This is one of about ten shots. One was successful.Check It Out

The B&W is perfect and the black background gives more impact but, I think that the object at the top right hand side is distracting to the viewer. It would have been better if left out.Check It Out

I think that the last one, which you consider it as a mistake is the best since it has a subject the the viewer’s eye will lock on;l I am referring to the moon. The out of focus flower help the viewer to look beyond it to the moon. Mate, you learn by trying, and trying hard so, never give up and never feel that your shots are no good.

A woman in black walks towards home after a light April shower. I took the shot during a photo walk and was looking for an old chapel in the small village of Mqabba, Malta.
Shot taken at f/5.6@ 1/2500sec at ISO400. Lens Tokina 12-24mm and Nikon D90 #conversion ti B&W made in Nik silver efex pro 2

Looks like these shots were made by flash, which unfortunately, rendered the images on the harsh side, and burned out many details. The hot spot on the top shot is not very flattering and there is no detail. The best approach is natural light to bring out the beauty of the flowers, and where possible, the use of a tripod to assure sharpness. Check It Out

Cutting off the arm is really unfortunate. Try moving the image a little to the left and crop from belwo to obliterate the arm completely. The harshness of the colours is unflattering though I like the way the head is tilted and the lovely smile. Check It Out

Very interesting. A good critique will certainly encourage the author while a negative one might discourage him from learning his shortcomings.
